making something out of something

this book-shelf made out of books sparked my imagination.

where specifically lies the facination of making a container out of the content it is trying to contain?

a dinner-table made of dinner tables, chairs made of miniature chairs, for dinner: macaroni on an edible plate of macaroni.

a self-referencing catch-22, can one imagine an object made out of a material created of itself?
this inquiry leads one to think about the world of the micro-cosmos. amoebas self replicating ad infinitum. Syngnathidae. common skin cancer.

random doris salcedo reference.

in making something out of something, magnus touched on something very interesting. i think we should explore the potentials of the idea. while you can easily make a bookshelf out of books, and a coffeecup shelf from coffeecups, but can you also make a coffeepowdershelf from coffeepowder?

Well, the answer must be yes. But lets not forget to mention that the glue that holds the book together, would also need to appear on the shelf.

even though that the origin of the meat covering lady gaga is a bit unclear, the material of the 'containter' and 'content' is very related.
